Saturday will be a great day for the Spanish La Liga, because we will havethe chance to witness once again one of the biggest football derbies of this country. And in whole Europe. Atletico Madrid welcomes Real Madrid in the big derby of the capital and everyone expects a terrific game at the Vicente Calderon.

Real Madrid are the current leader in La Liga, having advantage of just two points in front of the champion Barcelona. Atletico Madrid are currently 4th, falling with six points behind Real Madrid. That’s because Diego Simeone’s side lost two of their last three games.

It’s hard to say which one of the two teams needs the win more. Real Madrid could give up the first place to Barcelona, if they lose at the Calderon. Atletico on the other hand will have to deal with a gap of nine points, if they lose on Saturday night. Both teams need to win, because of different reasons. And you can be sure that they will try to do it.

Last season the game between the two Madrid giants at the Calderon finished with a 1-1 draw, before Atletico beating their city rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It’s interesting to note that the last time when Real Madrid beat Atletico in La Liga was in April 2012, when Los Blancos managed to humilate their opponents with 4-1 at the Vicente Calderon. This is more than four years without a win against Atletico in La Liga for Real Madrid. Too much time, many people would say.

Atletico will be without the injured Augusto Fernandez, while Nicolas Gaitan is back in training. The big question remains the condition of the French star Antoine Griezmann, who is doubtful for the game.

There are more problems for Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane before the game. Pepe, Toni Kroos and Alvaro Morata are missing the match, while Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Mateo Kovacic and Casemiro are doubtful.
