Europa League predictions for Copenhagen – Celtic
Copenhagen welcomes Celtic at the Telia Parken in the Danish capital in a first leg from the 1/16-finals of Europa League. As usual, here are our Europa League predictions for this interesting fixture on Thursday.
Copenhagen reached the 1/16-finals of Europa League, despite of the fact that they won just two of their games in Group B. At the end the Danish side had 9 points, which was enough for them to finish in front of the third Dynamo Kyiv. Most probably the manager Stale Solbakken was not perfectly satisfied with his team’s performance, but at the end the fact that they progressed was the most important one.
For Copenhagen this game comes after a dissapointing performance in Denmark’s Superliga. On Friday the champions had a visit to Esbjerg, which they lost with 0-1. Because of this Copenhagen are now 7 points behind the leader Midtjylland.
Celtic also played in Europa League’s group stage and they were far more convincing than their next opponent. The Scottish team won four of its six games in the group, finishing first in front of CFR Cluj, Lazio and Rennes. They have lost just one of their matches in the group – against CFR Cluj, when they already had the group won by them.
Celtic are pretty dominant in the Scottish Premiership right now, having won all of their last seven games. This allows them to be 10 points ahead of the second Rangers, although they have a game more compared to Steven Gerrard’s team.
In these Europa League predictions we don’t expect a lot of goals in this game between Copenhagen and Celtic on Thursday. We think that both teams will be cautious and probably more concerned about not losing. Still it would be important for the Danish team to get a positive result, because it won’t be easy for them at Glasgow.
